Join Doctors, Nurses and Medical Staff in Eastern Washington to Demand Congressman Baumgartner save our rural clinics and protect patients

Our hospitals, healthcare workers, and the patients they serve are in crisis in Eastern Washington. With the passage of the “Big Bad Bill”, the impacts on our clinics and patients' lives have been insurmountable. Because of this bill, over 230,000 patients in Eastern WA - including half of all kids - are at risk of losing their healthcare. And while families are kicked off their insurance, our clinics are closing and healthcare workers are feeling the punch. Just last week, Providence announced it will shutter clinics in Spokane and Stevens counties and laid off dozens of employees.

Meanwhile, instead of funding hospitals and protecting patients, our Congressman, Michael Baumgartner helped gut Medicaid, and knowingly put Providence facilities and others at risk of closure.

Instead of prioritizing the health and vitality of his constituents, he’s hosting elite fundraisers with his wealthy donors. What’s worse, he’s enlisting the help of Congressman Jim Jordan, a representative who isn’t from here, known as one of the most far-right MAGA Republicans in the nation and with a history of covering-up the abuse of young athletes in his home state. We deserve better. The closure of rural hospitals, clinics, and facilities means cutting off access to lifesaving care for many in our state, including care for pregnant people, children, and seniors. No one should be forced to drive hours to see a doctor or receive emergency care.

We, the undersigned, call on Congressman Baumgartner and his wealthy donors to undo the damage they’ve inflicted through the “Big Bad Bill” and immediately commit to financially supporting the 5th Congressional District’s hospitals and healthcare system by donating all the proceeds from this fundraiser to the hospitals and clinics in his district.
