A tax on extraordinary profits from capital gains would impact only the wealthiest of Washingtonians, many who have seen their wealth continue to grow through the pandemic. As our state reckons with simultaneous crises, our only option is to keep money flowing in our communities by asking the wealthy to step up and support the community investments they have long benefitted from.
A $500 to $950 Working Families Tax Credit would benefit 1 in 4 Washington kids, helping equitably combat poverty across race and immigration status. By putting cash directly into the pockets of half a million households, we can speed up our economic recovery and invest in the people who need it most.
Please, contact your legislators today and tell them to support fully funding the Working Families Tax Credit and a capital gains tax. We cannot continue settling for the most upside-down tax code in the nation.
