Washington state’s redistricting process allows an equal say between the Democratic and Republican parties - and the proposed maps recently revealed by the Republicans are sloppy and unconscionable. The maps proposed by commissioners Joe Fain and Paul Graves divide up every county in Western Washington to divide communities of color, dilute the power of cities, and accomplish only one goal: help their floundering party. The only way they can get the “competitive” maps they want is by gerrymandering every part of it. Send a message to the Redistricting Commission urging them to reject any maps that divide communities and are against the will of the voters.
